Urgent care suits problems that need attention today but are not life-threatening: minor cuts, sprains, sore throats, ear pain, urinary infections, mild asthma flare-ups. Does Medicare cover urgent care?
Yes. Medicare Part B covers urgently needed care; after the yearly deductible you usually pay 20% of the approved amount. See Medicare.gov. Medicare Advantage plans set their own copays.
What if I don't have insurance?
Ask for the self-pay price before you are seen. Under the No Surprises Act, uninsured and self-pay patients can request a good faith estimate for scheduled care. See CMS.
